ANINI, 6 Dec: The Dibang Valley KVK, in collaboration with the NERIST’s agriculture engineering department, organised an interaction programme with farmers at the Alinye advanced landing ground on Tuesday.
The programme, a part of the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture, was aimed at developing linkages among the farmers and officials of the state government.
The NERIST’s AICRP on ESA principal investigator Prof KN Dewangan delivered an audiovisual presentation on ergonomically improved tools and equipment, and apprised the farmers of the ongoing research activities of the NERIST’s agriculture engineering department for farmers.
Safety gadgets for dao and sickle, improved backpack for carrying load, a maize sheller, a kiwi vine pruner, improved weeders and planters were displayed during the programme.
“Hands-on demonstration on the same was conducted by JPO Sarju Thokchom and field assistant Jadab Saikia at a farmer’s field,” the KVK informed in a release, adding that 42 farmers, “including progressive farmers and SHG women,” participated in the programme.
KVK Head Dr Tsedar Wangmu and agriculture engineering specialist Nani Kani also spoke.
