DOIMUKH, 20 Jun: A 25-day training of trainers (ToT) programme on ‘Basic course in disaster response’, organised by the disaster management department, in collaboration with Doimukh-based 12 Bn NDRF, concluded here on Thursday.
Forty-five trainers were trained in the first batch, while 69 trainers from 13 districts participated in the second batch training programme.
“The programme was aimed at equipping the trainers with skills that they would need to train the communities’ immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, thereby enabling them to undertake basic relief and rescue tasks during emergency situations,” the disaster management department informed in a release.
The valedictory function was attended by Disaster Management Director Komkar Dulom, Disaster Management Joint Director Christine Wanglat, 12 BnNDRF Assistant Commandant Ram Karan Swami, and others.
Dulom stressed the need for ToTs in basic disaster response “as the department plans to undertake a series of training programmes in all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh under the 100-day action plan of the state government,” the release stated.
“Dulom also emphasised the need for training of communities across the state, as incidences of disaster have increased and preparedness will play a crucial role in the future,” it added.
Joint Director C Wanglat advised the participants to “actively impart training to communities at the district level, so that the state becomes disaster resilient in future,” the release informed.
Later, certificates, identity cards and emergency kits were distributed to all the trainers.
