Arunachal wins 12 medals in National Hand to Hand Fighting Sport Championship

ITANAGAR, 29 Jul: Arunachal Pradesh won 12 medals, including five gold medals, in the 4th National Hand to Hand Fighting Sport Championship, which was held in Ashok Nagar, Madhya Pradesh on 27 and 28 July.

The gold medal winners were Joram Khope (90kg), Jaanson Takha Tassar (80 kg), Langpu Takio (70 kg), Bamang Gungte  (67 kg) and Bamang Tabang  (62 kg ) categories.

While Khope, Tassar and Takio won in the self-defence discipline, Gungte and Tabang won their medals in fighting discipline.

 Tassar Angelus Maku (80 kg) and  Ruhi Maching  (75 kg) won a silver medal each in self-defence discipline, while  Byabang Sakap  (75 kg), Bamang Losik  (75 kg), Hina Prasar  (65 kg) and  Likha Tamin  (80 kg) won a bronze medal each in the same discipline.

 Loa Kaku (62 kg) won a bronze medal in the fighting discipline.

Tassar Tite was the coach and Giogi Tagi was the manager of the team. Besides Arunachal, athletes from Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttrakhand, Chandigarh,

Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat and Delhi participated in the championship.

Bamang Apo and Giogi Tagi officiated the championship as chief secretary of the technical team and technical secretary, respectively.
