APPSCCE: 2 cases registered over use of unfair means

NAHARLAGUN, 16 Dec: The Naharlagun police have registered two cases in connection with alleged use of unfair means during the preliminary APPSCCE held on Sunday.

Based on a complaint received from the centre superintendent of the Kendriya Vidyalaya in C Sector here, a mobile phone was found in the possession of a PwD candidate, identified as Mudang Yabyang, inside the examination hall.

During investigation, the mobile phone was seized after being produced by the centre superintendent.

Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo in a press statement informed that the candidate’s statement was recorded and she was allowed to leave with instructions to cooperate with the investigation.

In another case, an FIR was registered against one Binam Teng.

“As per a written FIR filed by the centre superintendent of the government higher secondary school, G-Sector, Naharlagun, an OMR sheet belonging to a candidate, Binam Teng, was reported missing from the examination hall. During the investigation, the missing OMR sheet was recovered from Teng’s possession, who had mistakenly taken it home,” informed Gambo.

Further investigation is underway in both the cases, he added.

Meanwhile, speaking to NewsFy, Yabyang said she accidentally took her phone inside the exam hall in a hurry but later handed it over to the invigilator before the exam began.

“I submitted my phone because I took it into the exam hall by mistake. The invigilator told me they had to report it but assured me it wasn’t a big issue since I hadn’t cheated. I also spoke to the police later, and they assured me that a formal investigation was underway and that it was standard procedure,” Yabyang said.

“I never thought they would make my name public before the investigation was completed, especially since I did not cheat using the phone,” she added.
