Statehood Day celebrated across Arunachal

ITANAGAR, 21 Feb: Arunachal Pradesh’ 39th Statehood Day was celebrated across the state with pomp and enthusiasm on 20 February.

In Tawang, Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang unfurled the national flag, and paid tribute to the dynamic leaders of the state who contributed significantly to its development.

Reflecting on the nearly 40-year journey of Arunachal as a full-fledged state, he highlighted the challenges overcome and the progress achieved. He commended the present government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu for its developmental initiatives, particularly in strengthening road connectivity across the state.

In Upper Subansiri district, DC Tasso Gambo unfurled the national flag in headquarters Daporijo, and highlighted the state’s achievements in various sectors.

In West Siang district, ZPM and Padma Shri awardee Jumde Gamlin hoisted the tricolour, and said that “development is touching all the nook and corner of West Siang.” Besides urging the people to cooperate with the government to bring about further development, she appealed to clan-based organisations, NGOs and the public to eradicate the drug menace from the district.

She also urged the womenfolk to “come forward for the sake of the society.”

In Longding, ZPM Jehai Wangsu unfurled the tricolour, and expressed gratitude to the DC and the SP for their “impactful administration and maintenance of peace and tranquillity.”

Wangsu appealed to the people of the district to cooperate with the HoDs for the betterment of the district.

Keyi Panyor district celebrated the Statehood Day with a ‘DC Aapke Dwar’ programme, held in Deed circle, at the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta.

During the programme, various government departments showcased the services available to the public. Jan suvidha services were also provided, drawing a huge turnout.

The DC in her address emphasised her commitment to addressing the daily concerns of the public, particularly those in far-flung areas of the district.

In Tirap district, MLA Wanglam Sawin unfurled the national flag in headquarters Khonsa and paid tribute to the veterans and pioneers who steered the state from the NEFA era to the present Arunachal.

He highlighted the progress and prosperity the state has achieved since 20 February, 1987, and sought cooperation from the public and government departments to ensure successful implementation of infrastructure projects in the district.

In Upper Siang district, DC Talo Jerang unfurled the tricolour in headquarters Yingkiong and highlighted the benefits of various central and state government flagship schemes implemented by various departments in the district.

In Lower Siang district, Nari-Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu unfurled the tricolour and elaborated the welfare programmes launched by the government in various sectors. He underscored the strides the district has made in the fields of roads connectivity, infrastructural developments, and health and educational sectors within a few years of its inception.

In Leparada district, MLA Nyabi Jini Dirchi unfurled the national flag in Basar, and said that “this day is a celebration of Arunachal Pradesh’ remarkable journey of progress and development, driven by the collective will and aspirations of its people.”

Outlining the development initiatives undertaken in the district, she sought collective effort of one and all to turn Leparada into a model district.

In Lohit district, former minister Nakul Chai unfurled the national flag, and urged citizens to act responsibly and refrain from encroaching on government land, stressing the necessity of designated areas for parking, public utilities, and infrastructure projects. He also encouraged cooperation between the administration and the public for planned urban development.

In Papum Pare district, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Nabam Yakum unfurled the national flag in Yupia, and shared a brief history of Arunachal’s journey to statehood. She urged the attendees to uphold the state’s honour and bring pride to its name.

In East Siang district, Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu unfurled the tricolour in headquarters Pasighat.

Addressing the gathering, Taggu reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to carry forward the vision of the state government for a progressive and prosperous East Siang. He also highlighted various achievements in the district.

MLA Tapi Darang, Chief Councillor Okiam Moyong Borang, SP Pankaj Lamba, and ADC (HQ) Tatling Pertin, among others, attended the celebration. (DIPROs)
