KOLMA, 25 Jul: In an initiative aimed at improving learning conditions, the office of the Naharlagun extra assistant commissioner (EAC) donated tables and chairs for the pre-primary and primary students of the Government Primacy School here on Friday.
The effort was spearheaded by Naharlagun EAC Khoda Bath and Circle Officer (CO) Nani Mamung.
During a recent inspection visit to the school, it was found that the children were attending classes in challenging conditions – seated on mats, with only a few having access to tables and no proper chairs. The school, nestled in the midst of a seasonal river, becomes especially difficult to access during the monsoon, yet students continue to show up with unwavering determination to learn.
Recognising this spirit and the need for better infrastructure, the CO took the initiative to provide basic classroom furniture. The donation aims to enhance the learning environment for the students, who until now had made do with bare essentials.
The visit also included an interactive session with the children, during which officials encouraged them to continue studying hard despite the odds.
Teachers and parents expressed gratitude for the gesture, and expressed hope that it would mark the beginning of more sustained support for remote schools like theirs.
The EAC office reaffirmed its commitment to improve education access and infrastructure in the region, especially for children in vulnerable and geographically challenging areas. (DIPRO)
