ADC urges farmers to adopt organic farming

JANG, 25 Jul: Jang ADC Hakraso Kri urged farmers to adopt organic cultivation methods for sustainable yields, safer produce, and long-term environmental wellbeing.

Emphasizing the urgent need for a shift from chemical to organic farming, Kri said, “Organic farming is not only better for our health and environment; it also opens new markets and premium pricing for farmers.”

He encouraged adoption of group farming models,and stressed the need for forward linkages to connect farmers with better market avenues.

Kri was addressing farmers and other stakeholders during a horticulture input kits distribution programme under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), organized by the Horticulture Department at the ADC office premises here in Tawang district on Friday.

District Horticulture Officer Safior Rahman provided technical guidance on the correct usage of organic inputs. He explained the benefits of using organic fungicides, bactericides, bio-pesticides, and liquid enzymes.

Subdivisional Horticulture Officer Koncho Gyatso briefed the gathering on the broader vision of the VVP. He urged the farmers to engage in horticultural activities for sustainable income generation, improved food security, and economic resilience in remote villages.

Hybrid vegetable seed kits, organic manure kits (granular and liquid), organic pesticide kits, and knapsack sprayers were distributed to 45 beneficiary farmers from the Jang-Thingbu block under the centrally sponsored scheme, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture.

ITBP Assistant Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar, PRI members, and other local stakeholders also attended the programme. (DIPRO)
