Plantation drive organised

NAMSHU, 25 Jul: A plantation drive was organised on a hill slope in Namshu village in West Kameng district on Thursday.

GB Sonam Tsering stated that five hundred saplings, which are climatically adapted, were planted on a hill slope in the village to maintain optimal balance between nature and human activities.

“It was Ngamgang, the last day of the month according to the lunar calendar, considered an auspicious day, and to mark this day we organised this plantation drive,” he said.

“The hill slope was ideal for mass plantation as part of land reclamation efforts, and to promote greenery and restore environmental balance, thereby reducing human pressure on land and forests,” he added.

All the GBs and members of the Namshu Village Council enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive.
