PASIGHAT, 16 Feb: The community development block (CD block) here organised a jan samvaad (public outreach) programme on the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgaar & Ajeevika (Gramin) Act or VB-G RAM G Act for gram chairpersons of Bogong and Bosing panchayat segments on Monday at the CD block office here in East Siang district.

The event was aimed at creating awareness about the features of the Act, aimed at strengthening rural development initiatives. The sensitisation workshop was attended by newly elected gram panchayat chairpersons under the Pasighat CD block, panchayat functionaries, RD staff, and BDO officials.

The jan samwaad is a six-week programme for PRIs functionaries, beginning Monday. Its key features, such as enhancing rural employment from 100 to 125 days of guaranteed wage employment per rural household; focus on priority areas such as water security and rural infrastructure development; and livelihood generation and climate resilience, with emphasis on creating sustainable rural assets and infrastructure, were highlighted during the programme.

Headed by Pasighat CD Block BDO Intiremi Ering, the technical sessions were imparted by ADO Luke Ezing and EO (RE) Bharati Rina. The technical sessions elaborated key components of the Act -strengthening employment guarantee mechanisms to ensure livelihood security; promoting the creation of durable rural assets for long-term development;ensuring institutional accountability through participatory planning; and leveraging technology-driven governance to enhance transparency and efficiency in rural administration.

EO (RE) B Rina highlighted rural development schemes with focus on PMAY Grameen, eligibility criteria and procedures and objectives of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Grameen), emphasising its role in providing  affordable pucca housing to eligible rural households.

The workshop is expected to strengthen grassroots engagement among PRI functionaries and facilitate effective implementation of the VB-G RAM G Act, including the preparation of comprehensive and need-based village development plans and strengthening convergence efforts. (DIPRO)
