PASIGHAT, 24 Mar: A three-month value added sales management course commenced at Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) here in East Siang district on Tuesday. The programme, being organised by JNC’s commerce department, is aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurial skills and practical exposure of BCom students.
During the inaugural session, JNC Principal Dr Gindu Borang emphasised the importance of skill-based education, while Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang spoke on bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Commerce HoD Agin Taboh highlighted the growing significance of sales management in competitive markets.
IQAC coordinator Dr DP Panda stressed the need for holistic student development, while programmecoordinator Dr Minam Yomso outlined the core objectives of the programme.
In a concurrent event, JNC’s mathematics department organised its annual departmental seminar on the theme ‘Mathematics in day-to-day life’, during which student presenters demonstrated how nature utilises mathematical logic and patterns. The participants illustrated these principles through examples of phyllotaxy and the spirals found in sunflowers, pineapples, and pine cones.
Coordinated by Riken Kaye, the event saw ‘Team Analyst’, comprising Ena Migribra, Osinam Taga, Kenyir Kamgo, and Hibu Rillung, take the top prize. Jitam Yun was named the best presenter.
The resource persons included Dr Richin Drema and Adam Paksok from Arunachal Pradesh University, and Dr Drema Lhamu from JNC.
Dr Gete Umbrey encouraged the students to apply their mathematical minds to solving real-world problems, remarking that nature is the greatest mathematician, and that “human discovery of mathematics is an ongoing journey with endless opportunities.” (DIPRO)
