BOMDILA, 26 Mar: West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar reviewed the road safety scenario in the district, including the licencing system, existing road infrastructure, public awareness initiatives, enforcement mechanisms, emergency response systems, and parking management.

During a meeting of the District Road Safety Committeeheld here on Wednesday, the DC directed all road construction and maintenance agencies to identify accident-prone locations across the district and ensure installation of appropriate “road furniture and signage” to mitigate risks and enhance commuter safety.

The meeting was attended by the SP, the DMO, the PWD EEs from Bomdila, Dirang, Kalaktang and Thrizino, the DDSE, and others.

The DC instructed the DDSE to intensify road safety awareness campaigns in educational institutions to inculcate responsible behaviour among students from an early age.

Key issues such as sinking roads in Bomdila, the absence of trauma care facilities in the district, and drainage-related challenges were also deliberated upon.

The meeting concluded with a call for strengthened inter-departmental coordination to ensure safer roads and improved traffic management across West Kameng district. (DIPRO)
