KHONSA, May 8: The Tirap District Administration (DA) in a meeting on Tuesday reviewed the district’s disaster preparedness and instructed all the line departments to remain alert and take all necessary precautionary measures to face any kind of eventuality arising out of natural disasters, like hailstorm, landslide, flood, etc.
All the departments have been asked to prepare their departmental crisis plan and submit it to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). The concerned HoDs have been asked to take the required precautionary measures well in advance. The PWD/Urban department has been asked to clear all chocked/clogged drains and culverts and also to clear all scattering garbage on the roads.
Regular monitoring of water level in major rivers and stream should be maintained by the concerned department, the meeting observed.
The meeting also decided to issue necessary prohibitory orders for those who are residing at low laying and vulnerable locations with directions to move to safer places.
The meeting, which was held in the office chamber of the deputy commissioner, was chaired by ADC T ARAN and attended by the concerned HoDs.
