ITANAGAR, May 11: The first meeting of the local complaint committee of Capital Complex was held here on Friday.
The committee has been constituted as per the Sexual Harassment at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
During the meeting, chairperson Jarjum Ete stressed that to implement the act effectively, the state government should make separate allocation of fund to each deputy commissioner or district officer.
Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan stressed that awareness regarding the committee should be created as it has been specifically constituted to attend to the cases of sexual harassment of women at workplace.
He also sought cooperation of member cum general secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Association, Kani Nada Malling, for disseminating information in this regard.
Malling also stressed that more awareness on the topic is required as most of the victims are reluctant to report due to ignorance of law. She also shared various challenges that are faced while dealing with cases of sexual harassment.
EAC, Tame Yajum as ex-officio member briefed the team about the role and function of the local complaint committee.
