LONGDING, May 21: The Longding district administration on Monday sealed the offices of the power department’s executive engineer (EE) and assistant engineer (AE) here, after the officers were found absent from duty without authorization.
However, DIPRO reported that the offices were sealed “to safeguard the public property.”
There have been several complaints regarding power cuts in various parts of the district over the last few days, but there was no engineer present in the district to handle the issues.
When repeated attempts to trace the officers failed, the DC had to depute CO (GA) NL Naam to reach the power office and ascertain the whereabouts of the officers.
It was found that the EE had left for a three-day training programme in Itanagar. However, no sanction order, charge handing-over, or formal intimation to the DC office was found.
Similarly, the AE was reported to be on leave due to domestic work. Again, no formal sanction of his leave could be traced.
“Since these officers had abandoned their offices, it was directed to seal their offices to safeguard public property,” the report said.
