ITANAGAR, Sep 2: One NSCN (K) cadre identified as Honcham Wangsa, Self Styled Corporal of NSCN (K)’s mobile two group, was killed near Kunsa village in Longding district by the Khonsa battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of DAO Division on Friday last.
Acting on a specific intelligence about NSCN(K) cadres trying to exfiltrate from Indian territory, the Khonsa battalions of AR swiftly launched an operation. According to the AR, a column of AR personnel had ambushed the insurgents in the late hours on Friday. There was an exchange of fire wherein one NSCN(K) cadre was killed while, other cadres managed to escape using cover of darkness and bad weather, said a AR release. In subsequent search operation launched early in the morning, the AR column found the hardcore cadre in combat dress had succumbed to bullet injuries.
