PASIGHAT, Jun 18: The state unit of the North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) has vehemently condemned the police department for its alleged failure to make any breakthrough in the Ojing Taying murder case.
“One year has passed since Ojing had succumbed to his injuries nine days after he was brutally attacked by some miscreants on 10 June in Itanagar last year; but the state police have yet to make a breakthrough in the case,” lamented NEHRO’s state unit president Vijoy Mize.
He said the way the police department has been handling the investigation was totally unsatisfactory.
“It is very sad that, the police department, even after our repeated pleas, has neither taken up the case seriously nor expedited the investigation process,” he said, and demanded that the case be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) without further delay.
It is pertinent to mention that the East Siang District Students’ Union on 16 June served the state government a week’s ultimatum to transfer the case to the CBI.
