NAHARLAGUN, Sep 26: The second foundation day of the Apatani Women Association Ziro (AWAZ) was celebrated on Tuesday at the Dree Ground in Papu Nallah.
In her keynote address Dr Millo Kunya (Nengkar) highlighted on activities carried out by AWAZ during the past two years, while Khoda Ruja President of Tanii Supung Dukun congratulated AWAZ and said that Apatani women have far excelled today and broken the traditional concept of women being less capable.
Guests on the occasion, Jarjum Ete (President) Indian Council of Child Welfare State of Arunachal Pradesh, Bengia Dipti (President) Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS), Gumri Ringu (Spokeperson) APWWS congratulated AWAZ on achieving much during the past two years.
The guests also spoke of gender equality and called on other organisations to make women equal participants and consider them capable of holding important portfolios.
They also assured of their support in the days to come.
Dignitaries from all walks of life and AWAZ members from Ziro and Capital complex also participated in the celebration.
Earlier, AWAZ President Hage Shalla Yassung also gave her inputs.
On the sideline of the celebration, the District Health Society of Yupia organized a screening cum awareness camp on non-communicable diseases and life style diseases, which benefitted at least 246 people.
