ROING, Jul 10: The Dibang forest division (DFD) planted and distributed around 10,000 saplings here as part of the weeklong Vanmahotsav celebration from 1 to 7 July.
The celebration commenced with plantation of saplings in the premises of the VKV here by students and teachers of the school. Saplings were also planted at the government secondary schools in Koronu, Meka and Jia.
DFD DFO Aduk Paron apprised the students at all the schools of the importance of celebrating Vanamahotsav and the importance of trees. He urged the students to plant and nurture at least one sapling each.
The celebration culminated at the Jawahar Nagar Van Udyan premises here, with plantation of saplings by Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, IGP Sunil Garg, local MLA Mutchu Mithi, Divisional Commissioner (West) Gamli Padu, Lower Dibang Valley DC Mitali Namchoom, and others.
