TAWANG, Sep 1: The Tawang District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) has organised a school awareness programme on harmful effects of tobacco at Manjushree Vidyapith, Tawang on Friday.
Tawang NTCP consultant, Sang Dorjee Dirkhipa gave a power-point presentation on the harmful effects of tobacco on health, environment and overall development of the nation.
Physiotherapist, Dr P Tashi discussed about fatal health problems caused by tobacco consumption and smoking.
In the second session, the DTCC sensitized the teaching staff and school principal about the COTPA Act regulation in the campus. The school authority and DTCC also agreed to work jointly to make the school campus tobacco-free soon.
The DTCC team also appealed to all government and private schools to extend cooperation to make all campuses tobacco-free in the district.
