RONO HILLS, Sept 1: Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies (AITS), Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) has signed the MoU with University of South Florida (USF), USA under the scheme of Indo-US 21st Century Knowledge Initiative awards.
The scheme was formerly known as the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative.
The proposal entitled, ‘An Indigenous Studies Field School for Global Exchange in Northeast India: Fostering Educational and Public Health Initiative’, submitted together by AAITS, RGU and USF has been selected and awarded for the year 2016 – 2019.
The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between US and Indian institutions of higher education.
The sanctioned award will be utilized over a period of three years, with the aim of encouraging mutual understanding, educational reform, research and teaching as well as the development of junior faculty at US and Indian institutions of higher learning, said Prof Simon John, Director, AITS.
As a part of the project, a team of AITS faculties will visit USF during the year 2018 in order to interact with the USF faculties, students and administrators and also to develop a curriculum on ‘Cultural Resource Management’ which is to be conducted by AITS in RGU where the students and faculties of USF and RGU will take part.
This will be followed by a field research on public health by the AITS and USF faculties in collaboration with RIWATCH.
