SONGKING, Oct 1: A cultural cum community hall constructed at a cost of Rs 19 lakhs under the Ministry of Art & Culture was officially inaugurated and dedicated to villagers of New Songking Village by local MLA and Minister for Water Resource Development Kamlung Mossang on Sunday.
The hall was sanctioned in 2014-15 and executed by the Rural Works Department.
The inaugural function was followed by a public meeting during which a public memorandum was submitted to the minister demanding development of the football field with rostrum facility, drinking water facilities, posting of adequate staff in sub-centre and middle school and employment for youths.
Congratulating the people on the new cultural cum community hall, ADC T Rumi appealed to the villagers of Songking to actively participate in the flagship programme of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.
The final match of the 3rd Inter Village Football Tournament was also held on the day, where the ADC said that such tournaments would help bring awareness against the dreaded addiction of drugs.
ZPC Jowkhong Singpho also appreciated the organizers of the tournament and hoped that it would help in decreasing drug addiction in the area.
In the final match of the tournament, Namphainong FC defeated United Songking FC 2-1 and lifted the trophy with cash prize of Rs 20,000. The runners-up team also received a trophy with Rs 10, 000 as cash prize.
Individual prizes of Rs 1000 each were also given to best player of the tournament and the highest scorer of the tournament.
