RUMGONG, Jul 16: Two hundred people including officers and staffs of government departments, gaon burahs, and others participated in an awareness programme on disaster management organized here on Monday by the Siang District Disaster Management Authority, in collaboration with Doimukh-based 12 Bn NRDF.
Rumgong ADC (in-charge) Binti Mibang spoke on the importance of conducting such programmes, while DDMO (in-charge) Pebika Lego spoke about impact of disasters. She urged the participants as well as the student community to be at the forefront of generating awareness on disasters.
NDRF Sub-inspector Ranveer Singh Pathania made a PowerPoint presentation on disaster management, precautionary and preventive measures, mitigation of disaster, etc. The NDRF team presented a demonstration on the steps to be taken during disaster, and provided tips on rescue, evacuation, and first aid.
The NDRF battalion also conducted similar awareness programme at Guijan high school in Tinsukia, Assam, on Monday, under the command of Inspector Santosh Kumar. Over 100 people turned up for the programme. (DIPRO)
