RUKSIN, Aug 10: Following an executive order issued by the East Siang deputy commissioner, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) here has prohibited gambling activities such as ‘housie’ or tambola in the name of Solung festival and other special occasion in the subdivision.
The ADC has served an order to all gaon burahs under his jurisdiction, urging them to refrain from involvement in such gambling activities in their villages, saying they would otherwise invite legal action.
The East Siang superintendent of police has also directed all police officials of the district to check gambling activities in the name of festivals.
Gambling activities are banned in the state under the Arunachal Pradesh Gambling (Prohibition) Act, 2012.
