ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Members of the All Arunachal Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA), led by its president Tarak Agung Tarh, called on Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein here on Sunday and requested the state government to reconsider its recently announced cabinet decision to regularize only 400 SSA teachers’ posts.
The members appealed to the government to increase the posts up to 500 or 600 “or as the state cabinet deems fit for the welfare of SSA teachers of the state.”
The DCM on his part assured the AASSATA members that after consulting with the education minister and the education department, he would bring their grievances to the state cabinet, with approval from the chief minister.
The AASSATA members welcomed the cabinet decisions on regularization of SSA teachers, closure of zero-enrollment primary and secondary schools in the state, and revocation of all out-of-turn promotions in the education department, but urged the government to reconsider the decision to create only 400 regular posts of SSA teachers.
Tarh informed that some of the SSA teachers who have crossed 50 years of age and are yet to be regularized have to work along with their children who have joined as regular teachers in the same schools. (DCM media cell)
