ITANAGAR, Aug 31: A two-day residential leadership training themed ‘Group leaders’ orientation workshop (GLOW)’ organized by the All Arunachal Private Schools’ Association (AAPSA) concluded at the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) here on Friday.
GLOW, an initiative of the AAPSA in collaboration with the DBYC, saw the participation of 91 young leaders from 15 schools of the capital complex.
The training programme, which was inaugurated by Itanagar parish priest Fr Kamil Horo, was a mix of serious interactive sessions, hectic activities, and songs and dances.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Fr Horo congratulated the AAPSA for coming up with such student-centered activities to develop their leadership qualities and latent talents. He advised the participants to take active part in the training, which was largely activity-based.
A team of trainers led by Fr Kholi John guided the trainees through a series of sessions on topics such as ‘self-knowledge’, ‘self-image’, ‘leadership types’, and ‘qualities of a good leader’.
Fr Cyriac from the DBYC organized interactive sessions on the SQ3RT study method, challenges for young people today, and communication skills, while Ruth Apon conducted a personality test for the trainees. Arunodaya University vice-chancellor Dr VN Sharma gave a talk on leadership.
During the course of the two days, the young leaders also actively participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Meet your principal’, in which a team of six principals and educators from the capital complex entered into a dialogue and active discussion with the participants and clarified some of the doubts and concerns of the young leaders.
