RONO HILLS, Sep 20: Faculty members, staff and students of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) cleaned the university’s campus during the launch of the ‘Swachta Hi Seva’ programme in the campus on Thursday.
RGU Vice-Chancellor Prof Amitava Mitra spoke about the nationwide programmes being carried out under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and urged everyone to take care of keeping one’s own home, place of work, and public places clean.
NSS programme officer Gomar Basar informed that the university has instituted cash prizes and trophies for the cleanest hostel, the cleanest department, the cleanest branch, and the cleanest colony this year under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ programme.
In Namsai, continuing its 18-day drive of cleaning the entire Namsai township, the Namsai unit of the Brahmakumaris reached the 7th day on Thursday, with several men and women, including the elderly, participating in the drive in line with SBM. The cleanliness drive will continue till 2 October.
