WAKRO, Sep 29: Agriculture Minister Dr Mohesh Chai said adequate subject teachers would be recruited soon to address the lack of subject teachers in schools here in Lohit district.
Dr Chai said this to a gathering of educators, gaon burahs, public leaders, HoDs, students and others at the Beena Ghose Roy Award for Academic Excellence ceremony held at the Anu Shiksha Seva Trust (ASSET) here recently.
He said measures are being taken up under the guidance of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Education Minister Honchun Ngandam to ensure that textbooks reach the schools on time.
The minister announced that an engineering college would be established in Tezu soon. He also spoke about the welfare measures taken up by the government for people suffering from cancer and other ailments.
Later, Dr Chai gave away a citation and cash award to Luna Mam, who excelled among the APST students of the government higher secondary school here in the CBSE exams.
Sujan Chai and Patam Rangmang gave away the Niti Bhalla Trophy for best ‘Apne all-rounder’ to Andhiso Rangmang.
Dr Chai also gave away five laptops for the Apna Vidya Bhavan computer lab. The laptops were contributed by Sushil Goenka, Virendra Singh, and other donors.
Also speaking on the occasion, OIL chief engineer Baritlum Ama thanked the minister for taking up initiatives to promote farmers, and for addressing the developmental issues of the region.
Corporate leader Sushil Goenka commended the ASSET and assured it of his lasting association and support.
The school and the minister thanked corporate leaders Deepa and Deven Singh for “arranging quality machines for children from rural Wakro area.”
