Tourism promotion prog as part of Paryatan Parv conducted

ITANAGAR, Oct 11: As a part of Paryatan Parv, the department of Tourism has organized a six days tourism promotion programme with a series of event which included Radio campa- ign by Jingles, cultural cum drawing competition at Donyi Polo School of Hearing and Visually Impaired, tree plantation at Railway Station and sensitisation for tourism and railway employees.
A total of 38 Homestays owners from West Kameng, Lower Subansiri and Papum Pare districts and resource persons from across India attended the programme.
Resource person Raj Basu from Association of Conservation of Tourism (ACT) highlighted the importance of initiating homestays. Manager of Donyi Polo Ashok Hotel Itanagar, S Kar also shared his expertise to the participants from various districts. Participants were given practical training on the basics of service and housekeeping by the faculties of State Food Craft Institute, Itanagar.
The 2nd batch training will be attended by the participants from Tawang, East Kameng, Upper Subansari, East Siang and West Siang districts.
It is worth mentioning that for the first time in North East india, state tourism department has launched a platform “Homestays Owner Responsible Network (HORN)” with the mission “My Destination, My Home, My Heritage” as a part of the process of sustainable development through Rural Tourism. A target has been set up to train and empower more than 100 registered Homestays owners as destination leaders in Arunachal Pradesh.
