MIKONG, Oct 19: State’s Director of Elementary Education, Tapi Gao said that the state government is putting priority on quality education for the girl-child.
Addressing local villagers of Mikong after inaugurating the newly built assembly hall at Mikong UPS, in East Siang district on Thursday, Gao said that the state government was putting attention on the girl-child’s education, as he urged school teachers to ensure quality education at primary level.
“The state government is putting priority on girl-child education through increasing infrastructure and facilities in girl’s schools and hostels”, Gao said.
Responding to a two-point memorandum submitted by the school management committee (SMC) of Mikong UPS, the director instructed department officials to process the request for upgrading the primary school to a secondary school.
He also directed the officials to provide additional computer sets for smooth functioning of the smart classes.
Earlier, addressing the occasion, teacher Talom Ezing informed that the prayer hall worth Rs 5 lakh was contributed by well wishers and alumni. He informed that the SMC has constituted vigilance committee to monitor teaching-learning activities of the schools.
The school’s headmaster Tajing Mesar informed that his school was selected as best UPS in East Siang district last year and accordingly bagged the ‘Annul Excellence Award-2018’ by the Adi Agom Kebang.
