ZIRO, Nov 14: The first batch of 5.78 metric ton of A- grade kiwis loaded in a refrigerator van was flagged off on Tuesday from here by DHO Komri Murtem for export through the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Cooperation(NERAMAC).
Speaking on the occasion, the DHO informed that the MoU earlier signed between (NERAMAC) and the Kiwi Growers Association, Ziro will enable the big and the small farmers to equally market their kiwis to the world. He said that as per the MoU the kiwis grown by the local farmers will be exported to New Zealand, Australia and the European countries.
He further informed that kiwi production this year is expected to cross last year’s record of 2800MT. “We are expecting a production in between 2900 to 3000 MTs,” he added.
