SEIJOSA, Nov 26: The issues of illegal logging and deforestation and the need to conserve nature came up for discussion during an interactive programme organized by the Green Lyfe Foundation (GLF) in association with the Khellong forest division here in East Kameng district recently.
Khellong DFO VK Jawal, GLF secretary Rajen Tachang, Seijosa forest division’s Range Forest Officer (T) Nabum Takam, AAPSU education secretary Prem Tallong, Ghora Aabhe Society chairman Nabum Takum, APWWS’ Seijosa branch president Melung Bagang, and public leaders took part in the programme.
The participants raised concern over illegal logging and deforestation in Seijosa area, and shared ideas to check the illegal activity.
Jawal assured the public that strict action would be taken against those involved in illegal logging within the forest area. He offered several innovative ideas and ways to check the problem, and assured his support to the GLF in its endeavour to protect and conserve nature.
Tachang appealed to the department concerned, the public leaders and youths to support the GLF’s campaign against illegal timber operation and deforestation in Seijosa area.
