ITANAGAR, Nov 29: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Dr BD Mishra helped in evacuating a pregnant woman from Tawang during the ‘Tawang Maitree Diwas’ celebration on Wednesday.
According to reports, a heavily pregnant woman was in critical condition and required emergency evacuation from the town.
As the regular helicopter would not be available for the next three days, the governor dropped out two of his officers and shifted the pregnant woman and her husband to his helicopter.
However, during refuelling at Tezpur, the pilot noticed a technical snag in the helicopter’s engine and the flight had to be aborted.
Accordingly, the governor made a requisition bid to the Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station, Tezpur for another helicopter.
He also arranged for an ambulance with a Gynecologist ready at the Raj Bhavan helipad to take the patient to the hospital without any loss of time.
At the Heema Hospital here, the patient underwent a successful emergency caesarean delivery.
The governor has conveyed his best wishes to the mother and newly born. (PRO to Raj Bhawan)
