PLUS project launched in 5 districts

RUKSIN, Nov 30: Precious Lives Under Safety (PLUS), an ambitious health project initiated by Arunachal Government was ceremonially launched in five districts, including East Siang on Friday.
The state’s Nodal Officer of National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Dimong Padung informed that the project was simultaneously launched at Kimin (Papum Pare), Yazali (Lower Subansiri), Aalo (West Siang), Ruksin (East Siang) and Tezu (Lohit district).
Launching the pilot project at Ruksin Community Health Centre (CHC) of East Siang, Pasighat West MLA Tatung Jamoh urged the district health department to extend the services availed the project to remote areas.
Highlighting the objective of the project, Nodal Officer Dr Padung said it was a modified form of Prime Minister Surakshit Matritwa Yojana, which ensures zero mortality of pregnant mother and neo natals besides 100 percent coverage of child birth in government run hospitals.
He said that about 50 percent registered pregnant women prefer non-institutional deliveries due to various reason, but the new project would facilitate them to come to government hospitals for at least four times ante-natal check up and hospital delivery.
“The district health department will conduct one camp at CHC level every month to provide the medical facility to the target beneficiaries, wherein various facilities such as ADHAR enrolment, opening of bank account to avail financial benefits and other services be given at their door steps through single window”, said Dr Padung.
The nodal officer also informed that his department has constituted Sub-centre level team including its ANM (Nurse), ASHA and Anganwadi Worker to identify pregnant women and forward them to CHC for registration and avail the scheme benefits under various medical schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiya Tatak asked the pregnant women to go to government hospitals without hesitation and take pre and post delivery medical cares. He also appealed to the Gaon Burahs and local leaders to help the mothers of rural areas to get the benefits and facilities under the ambitious scheme.
Among others, East Siang District Medical Officer Dr Kaling Dai, Joint Director of Health Services Dr D Ranya, District Reproductive & Child Health Officer Dr T Gao and Ruksin CHC in-charge Dr Kadum Jonnom spoke on the occasion and advised the pregnant women to go for timely registration in hospitals and get their due benefits under PLUS scheme.
The health department distributed cloths and food items among 41 pregnant women, who attended the programme.
Interestingly, a pregnant woman, who came to Ruksin CHC for ante -natal check up, successfully gave birth to a baby boy in the presence of the health department officers and other dignitaries.
The PLUS Project in Lohit was launched by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Dr. Mohesh Chai at Community Health Center, Sunpura.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner in-charge Duyu Ribya, Deputy Director Health Service Dr Manmow, DMO Tezu, DD ICDS Tezu, HoDs, administrative officers, former PRI members, GBs and public of the Sunpura circle.
Dr. Chair advised all the pregnant women of the district to get themselves enrolled for the scheme/project stating that no Govt. schemes can be successful without the people’s participations.
He said that the CM has been initiating many schemes focusing on girl child and women. He spoke on Dulari Kanya Yojana, Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao, Vidya Scheme and PMMVY scheme and asked avail the benefits of these schemes/programme and also create public awareness about the schemes in their villages and localities.
