Assistance pours in for Mangnang fire victims

RUKSIN, Dec 16: Relief assistance has been pouring in for the families affected by the fire accident that occurred in Mangnang village in East Siang district.
The fire, which broke out on Thursday, left seven families homeless. They are presently taking shelter in temporary tents on the bank of nearby Sille river.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak and the circle officer concerned visited the spot and assessed the properties damaged in the fire mishap.
On Friday, MP Ninong Ering visited Mangnang, provided Rs 20,000 each to the affected families as immediate assistance, and assured to grant money from his MPLAD fund for the rehabilitation of the families.
Ering informed that he has requested the chief minister to initiate measures to rehabilitate the families.
Meanwhile, members of the Ruksin BJP unit, the East Siang Christian Forum and the Adiland & Upright Peoples Organization of Pasighat met the affected families and donated assistance in cash and kind.
Besides these, community organization leaders, relatives and well-wishers have been visiting the families since Friday and extending help and assistance.
Frequent fire mishaps in the area have become a matter of concern for the administration and the locals. The administration has advised the people to avoid using dry and flammable roofing materials in house construction, in order to avoid fire mishaps.
