AALO, Dec 28: Students, well-wishers and others celebrated the 166th birth anniversary of Maa Sarada Devi at the Ramakrishna Mission here in West Siang district on Friday with pomp and religious fervour.
Among other things, the celebration featured an elaborate ritual, chanting from the Vedas, and ‘homa’ performed by sadhus and brahmacharis of the mission, besides singing of devotional songs by monks, staffers and students. A narrative of the life and times of Maa Sarada Devi was also read out.
As part of the occasion, garments were distributed among 78 families of a nearby village. (DIPRO)
