ITANAGAR, Oct 17: A day long programme was organised by the women’s wing of Galo Welfare Society, Capital Complex unit under the theme ‘Xwrmen Aloo – Celebrating Womanhood’ on October 15 last.
Xwrmen Aloo is a day of merry-making during the post harvest fall among the Galo community.
On the occasion, Yanga Poyom Yomcha was honoured for her lifelong contributions as a spiritual leader, while Paklu Taipodia was felicitated for her achievements in the field of sports as a body-builder. Professor, Dr Jumyir Basar Loyi was also felicitated for her contributions in the field of academics.
The event was marked by various games and sports activities, besides several cultural programmes.
