ITANAGAR, Oct 17: Secretary (Power) Ajay Kuma Bhalla informed that the rural electrification programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi countrywide is being aggressively taken up in the state to meet the completion target of December 2018, while informing that 895 un-electrified villages are yet to be electrified in the off grid areas, which is being taken up by the REC.
Bhalla said this during a discussion with Chief Minister Pema Khandu on the status of implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) in the state.
In the on-grid areas, 325 villages are still being electrified, whose works are being taken up by Arunachal Power Development Agency (APDA).
Bhalla also apprised on ongoing works in the 153 partially electrified villages in the on-grid areas.
He apprised that electrification works are going on in Roing, Pasighat and Aalo covered under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana works.
The Chief Minister urged the executing agencies to speed up work especially in the off grid areas and assured help of the state government.
The meeting was also attended by Power Minister Tamiyo Taga, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin, Commissioner Power Kaling Tayeng and Joint Secretary (Power) A K Verma, besides senior officials of REC Power Distribution Company Ltd.
