JAIRAMPUR, Feb 13: Changlang district will host the maiden North East Agro-Business Trade (NEAT) Fest, 2019 at Jairampur on 20 and 21 February.
Organised by the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP), Changlang, in collaboration with the district administration, the festival will exhibit the farm and non-farm produces and products of all the 39 NERCORMP self-help groups (SHGs) in Changlang district as well as highlight and promote community resources.
MLA Laisam Simai instructed all the heads of departments to support the event in all possible way to make it a grand success.
“It will provide a perfect platform to showcase the products of the SHGs and community members as well as to interact and exchange ideas from each other,” said NERCORMP District Project Director N Sukajit.
NERCORMP Business Development Officer Nonju Tikhak, who is responsible for the festival, said “it is a very auspicious occasion for both NERCORMP and the district as 39 organised SHGs are actively involved in improvement of livelihood and women empowerment, which could not be imagined before the launch of NERCORMP in 2014.”
The NERCORMP is a joint livelihood project of the International Fund for Agriculture Development and North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER.
The project’s primary objective is to improve the livelihood options of economically vulnerable groups in a sustainable manner through the promotion of livelihood opportunities and strengthening of local institutions that relate to livelihood development.
The project was launched in Changlang and Tirap districts in 2014.
