MAHADEVPUR, Feb 16: The police here in Namsai district arrested a suspected drug peddler on Friday afternoon after he was found to be in possession of 17 grams of contraband drug.
The accused has been identified as Jintu Das from Dhola in Tinsukia, Assam.
During a routine check of vehicles by the APP and CRPF personnel at the Dirak check gate, the security forces nabbed Das on suspicion and recovered four pouches (17 gms) of suspected brown sugar from him.
The accused is currently lodged at the police station here, and a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against him.
