HYDERABAD, Feb 17: A 12-member cultural troupe from Arunachal Pradesh performed the famous Rikam Pada dance of the state at the ‘Octave-North East Festival’ held here in Telengana from 14 to 17 February.
The troupe danced to the tune of the Rikam Pada folksong, attired in colourful costumes and glittering traditional ornaments, and left the crowd spellbound, informed troupe leader and chairman of the Lower Subansiri district unit of the Nyishi Art & Culture Welfare Society, Nabam Sonil.
Sonil said Nagpur-based South Central Zone Culture Centre’s (SCZC) director Deepak S Khiradkar and special officer of Shilpramam, Hyderabad, G Kishan Rao, interacted with the troupe members and praised their performance.
Around 300 folk artistes from the Northeast states performed their traditional songs and dances during the four-day festival, which was organized by the Telengana state tourism department in collaboration with the SCZC.
