Presiding officers trained, EVMs inspected

ITANAGAR, Feb 18: Altogether 212 presiding officers appointed for the upcoming elections in Papum Pare district underwent their first-phase training at Siddhartha Hall here on Monday.
Itanagar AERO Likha Radh imparted the training through a PowerPoint presentation on subjects including poll day arrangements, poll party and PWD, and EVM/VVPAT.
Papum Pare DC Dr Joram Beda monitored the training process.
Simultaneously, the first level checking of EVMs was conducted at the election office in Yupia, during which engineers from the Electronics Corporation of India inspected the EVMs, ‘the ballot unit and control unit diagnosis’, ‘vote casting’, and ‘closed result clear of EVMs’.
Representatives of various political parties witnessed the process.
In East Siang district, 308 presiding and polling officials underwent the second round of poll training at Pasighat on Monday.
Nodal officer Koj Yambang organized the training, and master trainers, Drs DP Panda, SK Sinha and JR Padi, presented demonstrations on EVM and VVPAT.
ADC (HQ) Tatdo Borang urged the officials to ensure free and fair elections in the district.
Noting that “many habitual escapists try to get exempted from election duties, submitting false medical certificates, etc,” the ADC said only genuine cases would be considered by the authority. (DIPROs)
