Adequate compensation for victims of police firing demanded

ITANAGAR, Feb 25: The Arunachal Law Students’ Union (ALSU) and the Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) in a joint representation to the chief minister on Monday demanded that the family members/relatives of those who lost their lives in police firing during the anti-PRC agitation be compensated adequately by giving them job security along with Rs 1 crore each.
They also demanded that the injured persons be provided with the best medical treatment along with compensation according to the seriousness of the injuries they have suffered.
Other demands of the unions include renaming the IG Park tennis court as ‘martyr’s ground’; immediate and unconditional release of all the arrested activists; revocation of any charges filed against any individual activist or organization leaders; immediate termination/suspension of the capital SP and SI Jha of the Naharlagun police station; and repealing or redefining the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
