NAHARLAGUN, Feb 28: A group of protestors snatched away the scooter belonging to Naba Saikia, a machine man at The Arunachal Times, from outside Takar Complex in Naharlagun on 22 February, when Saikia was on his way to work.
Saikia was on duty, and was on his way to Itanagar from Banderdewa.
“On reaching Takar Complex, a group of protestors stopped me. They took away my scooter key, and drove away on the scooter itself. I told them that I work for the press and even produced my ID card. Also, my scooter had ‘Press’ written on it, but they were not ready to listen,” said Saikia.
This daily appeals to whosoever has taken the scooter to return it at the earliest. The registration number of the scooter is AR-01F-9613. Saikia’s personal documents, such as press card, pan card, ILP book and registration book, were in the scooter.
If the scooter has been found by anyone, please contact The Arunachal Times office at 09612602327 or 09436050664. No action will be pursued if the scooter is returned at the earliest.
It is to be noted that during the capital bandh declared on 21 and 22 February, the bandh organizers had exempted the press from the purview of the shutdown.
