ITANAGAR, Sep 7: A day-long state level workshop as a part of National Nutrition Week-2017 on the theme ‘Optimal Infant & young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health’ was conducted by the Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit, GoI, Itanagar unit in collaboration with the Directorate of Women & Child Development, GoAP in the Directorate of Women and Child Development (WCD) here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Director (WCD) informed that the National Nutrition Week is celebrated each year from September 1 to 7 to make people aware about importance of their health and well-being.
The campaign was first started by the central government in the year 1982 with the motive to curb the under-nutrition and malnutrition by creating awareness among people about importance of nutrition for different age groups like children of 0-6 years, adolescent girls and pregnant and lactating mothers.
Officials of the Directorate of WCD, CDPOs and field functionaries of Papum Pare district participated in the workshop which had Nodal Officer (MCH) of National Health Mission, Dr Tana Natung and UNICEF Consultant, Dr Muktesh Rajyaguru as resource persons.
