Workshop on proper use of Hindi language at RGU

Doimukh, Sep 7: The Hindi cell of the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organised a one-day workshop on “Proper Use of Hindi Language and Figurers in the Office” for the benefit of university staff on Thursday.
RGU Registrar In-charge, Professor Tomo Riba laid emphasis on the importance of the national language.
“If we honour our national language then it would be easier for us to connect with each other emotionally,” he said and exhorted everyone to look upon the Hindi language as a collective responsibility and to contribute to its development by making maximum use of it in official correspondence.
Dean of the School of Language, Professor H K Sharma said that a particular language being easy or difficult depended upon our mental reception of it. “If we are determined to use Hindi in our official correspondence, we would definitely be able to do so,” he added.
Head of the Department of Hindi and Member of Official Language Implementation Committee, RGU, Professor Oken Lego said that the Hindi language today occupies an important space in our lives and that we should bear the same respect for our national language just as we have for our national song, national anthem and the national flag.
It is indeed a matter of concern that even after seventy years of Independence, Hindi is still not used as the primary language for official communication even in various Central institutes, he lamented.
Dr Satyaprakash Paul, in-charge of Hindi Cell, highlighted the objective of the workshop.
