ZIRO, Jun 21: Agriculture, Horticulture, etc, Minister Tage Taki on Friday inspected the high-altitude fish farm in Tarin, the horticulture nursery and the pig breeding centre in Siiro, and the proposed site for the farmers’ training college in Dilopolyang here in Lower Subansiri district.
During the inspection, the minister assured to remodel the NEC-funded high-altitude fish farm, which was established in 1976, “and make it economically viable and a source of revenue generation.”
Taki interacted with the farm workers at the horticulture nursery in Siiro, and assured to look into their grievance related to irregular payment of their monthly wages.
While inspecting the veterinary department’s campus, the minister said, “The district pig breeding farm, with an area of 30205.28 sq mtr, has lots of scope for growth. Once the incubator and the fodder mixing machine are fully commissioned, other livestock can also be bred for commercial and educational purposes.”
DVO Hano Tama apprised the minister of the requirement of a district veterinary hospital, and stressed the need to impart adequate training to farmers in livestock management.
Later, Taki inspected the proposed site for the farmers’ training college in Dilopolyang. (DIPRO)
