ITANAGAR, Jun 27: A team of the Arunachal Hindi Sansthan (AHS), headed by its chairman Takam Sonia, on Thursday called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu and sought “moral support of the state government in its endeavours.”
The CM is the organization’s patron-in-chief.
Apprising the CM of the activities of the AHS, which is working for the promotion of the Hindi language and its proper usage in the state, Sonia informed the CM that the AHS “is working to revive the Arun Bharati days by researching and authoring chapters in Hindi on Arunachal and its rich cultural heritage.”
He said the AHS has already written to the PMO and the union HRD ministry “to include these chapters in the mainstream Hindi textbooks.”
Sonia also suggested that Hindi medium be introduced “for conducting the state civil service examinations, in line with the UPSC.”
Lauding the organisation’s initiatives, Khandu said, “Arunachal Pradesh is known for its Hindi-speaking ability as, over the years, it has become the lingua franca of its people.”
He assured the team that he would discuss their suggestions “within the government, and, if feasible, include them in this year’s budget.” (CMO)
