RUKSIN, Jul 25: The sub-divisional administration here in East Siang district has urged cattle owners and rearers to not let their domestic animals roam free on the highway and other roads here.
Chairing a meeting with gaon burahs and members of the gram panchayat level interim committee on Wednesday, EAC Tatling Pertin expressed concern over accidents caused by domestic animals roaming freely on NH 15 and other roads here.
The EAC said the administration is taking steps to develop sheds for confining domestic animals, “in order to avoid disturbance along the road, besides maintaining clean and hygienic atmosphere in the rural areas.”
He urged the GBs also to take steps to set up ‘animal confinement zones’ in their villages.
“The villagers should donate land for solution of the stray cattle menace. The district administration is all set to forward a proposal to the government for protective boundary and other ground development activities against animal confinement zones,” Pertin said.
The public leaders and the GBs apprised the officer of the absence of community land in the villages to donate for animal confinement zones. However, they said they would to hold discussions with the villagers and ask them to donate suitable plots for animal rearing.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of work under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Grameen) in Ruksin block.
