GUWAHATI, Sep 15: Twenty contestants from across the Northeast were selected for the final round of the ‘Northeast Idol-2019’ during the mega audition held here in Assam on Saturday.
Fifty-seven contestants had earlier participated in the ‘mega audition’. It was judged by Amit Paul, Remanti Roy and Nabam James Bijnoo, who selected 20 contestants, from Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Sikkim and Tripura, for the final round.
The mega audition was inaugurated by Assam Irrigation Minister Bhabesh Kalita, who commended the organisers for their effort to unite the eight states of the region through music, and also for providing a platform to the youths of the NE states to showcase their talent.
Earlier, NE Idol chairperson Nabam Amzi Tajo highlighted the aims behind organizing the event.
The final round of the competition will be held at Nirjuli in October.
