Science United to go against Physical Edn in final
RONO HILLS, Oct 20: Defending champions, the Department of Physical Education team, edged past the Department of Commerce team by a margin of 3-2 goals in the first semifinal of the 4th University Soccer League (USL)-2019, played at the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) ground here on Sunday.
Scores of soccer lovers enjoyed a classy semifinal match, in which the two teams were poised at 1-1 till half time. The game, however, went in favour of the defending champions in the second half.
In the second semifinal match, the Science United team dominated the proceedings against their equally formidable opponents – the experienced team of RGU’s Research Scholars – defeating the latter by 2-1 goals.
The man of the match award was given away by RGU Joint Registrar, Dr David Pertin.
The final match will witness two strong teams vying for the coveted trophy on 22 October, at the university’s Ground No 1, at 2 pm.
The USL is jointly organized by the Officers’ Club of RGU, the Alumni Association of RGU, the RGU Employees’ Association, the RGU Teachers’ Association, the RGU Research Scholars’ Forum, and the RGU Students’ Union.
